Hello & welcome. Today we will concentrate on How To Host A Domain using namecheap.com as our hosting provider.
In this article we will be showing you how you can host your own website on the Namecheap Linux hosting platform.
If you have already bought your own website please continue to either of our sections below:
We always use a brilliant website domain registration and hosting company called namecheap as we have repeatedly found namecheap.com to be among the cheapest but best hosting sites online with excellent 24/7 live chat support should it be needed.
What is Hosting?
Once you have decided what you want to call your website, in our case globalhomeworkers.club, we now need to have the site hosted by a website hosting company of which there are tens of thousands online.
This is rather like you having decided the name of your shop, blog, etc, and then having to rent or buy a storefront on your local High Street. Your hosting provider becomes similar to the landlord of any building or shop and you rent your shop site from your host.
Your hosting provider will do their best to ensure that your website is always visible on the internet High Street.
Using namecheap shared hosting we can setup a hosting plan that will allow us to display several websites online.
The cheapest namecheap shared hosting program allows up to three websites on your hosting package and it is this that we will be using here today.
To set up hosting for our demonstration website MyNewWebsite follow the steps below:
Login to your namecheap account. If you do not yet have an account at namecheap you will need to register for an account before continuing further.
If you wish to host up to 3 websites chose the Value plan above. For up to 10 websites choose the Professional Plan above. You will now see the following screen:
At this point you will be able to get a free website domain which will have the suffix .website
This may be worth obtaining as we use our extra websites for training and testing purposes before we load our main live sites.
Today we are going to select to Use a domain we own hosted Namecheap.
Once you have selected this option you will be presented with a list of website domains that you have on your namecheap account as below:
It is now simply a case of selecting your domain name that you wish hosted at namecheap and following the system through to the end of the purchase stage. You will receive an email from namecheap welcoming you to your new hosting package with links to how you can access your domain behind the scenes.
IF YOU WISH TO HOST MORE THAN ONE DOMAIN YOU MUST NOW ADD THEM TO YOUR HOSTING PACKAGE USING THE CPANEL ADD-ON DOMAINS SECTION FOR YOUR WEBSITES. FULL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ACCESSING CPANEL WILL BE INCLUDED IN YOUR WELCOME EMAIL.
We will be covering all aspects of cPanel in future articles so do pop back in the very near future.
Summing It All Up
Congratulations – That’s it. You have now set up hosting for your new website and are all ready to start the next phase where you add either a blogging engine like WordPress or a shopping cart system like opencart.
